Total Sensory Deprivation: What It’s Like Inside a Flotation Tank
Would you take the plunge?
Pitch black. Silent. Zero Gravity. Confined.
I know from friends reactions when I tell them I’ve been in a floatation tank, some of you will be recoiling in horror reading this, imagining you may get claustrophobic or freak out even.
But when you experience it, it is something completely different.
At first, It’s a space where you come to meet yourself…and then it evolves.
Time Slip in the Tank
I was inspired to try out a flotation tank by my friend Jo who had a most bizarre first float at Zero Gravity in Altrincham, UK. She experienced what can only be described as a time slip, where she believed she had been in the tank for about 10 minutes, only to discover the 45-time limit was up. Where did she go during this time? I like to think she went to another dimension for special healing because after this, first, she couldn’t stop falling asleep for the rest of the day, and then, to her amazement, the arthritis pain she had for years in her wrists pain was gone. And remained gone for 3 days. She now gets 3 pain-free days after every time she goes in the tank.
