Oh my goodness. What a lovely story. I had the same with my rescue dog. We thought we were getting a dog for companion and nature walks. We got a very dysfunctional, distressed, anxious little angel who needed us to develop patience, unconditional love and understanding ( and find a lot of money for dog trainers haha). She has changed us for the better so much. I think she rescued us rather than the other way round. Dog s really are angels.
